Barren Ridge Vineyards

Located on the family’s former apple orchard, Barren Ridge Vineyards is now home to Augusta County’s premier winery.  John and Shelby Higgs converted their old apple barn into a state-of-the-art winery, preserving the original structure and wood beams.  The tasting room features wonderful wines that are available daily for complimentary tours and tastings.

Blue Ridge Vineyard

Blue Ridge Vineyard offers estate grown, estate bottled wines from the Shenandoah Valley. It is a family vineyard located at the head of the Shenandoah Valley with unique varietals producing wine from old-growth vines. The planting of Riesling, Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer marked the beginning in 1985. At 1200 feel above sea level, the western facing slope of the former hay field proved to be the perfect place for the first Vinifera plantings in southwest Virginia.

Rockbridge Vineyard

Rockbridge Vineyard is the fruition of Shepherd Rouse’s dream to make fine wine in his native state of Virginia. After several years of education and experience in the wine industry, Shep returned home, purchased a farm in northern Rockbridge County in the Shenandoah Valley, at a higher elevation than most Virginia vineyards and began planting grapes. From this palette, Rouse is able to produce a full spectrum of wines to match a broad range of individual tastes. His logo is “All Virginia, All the time.”

 Shenandoah Vineyards

We take our name from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, known as the "breadbasket of the confederacy" during the US Civil War. The wine made from grapes grown in the valley has a pronounced fruit character, with emphasis from climate and soil. Warm days and cool nights promote ripening while maintaining fruit flavor and bouquet and valley breezes help dry and encourage healthy foliage. We invite you to sample a taste of Shenandoah.
